1956 Monarch Convertible

Auctioned on Saturday, April 5, 2008

Sold at $123,750

Extremely rare, this 1956 Monarch convertible is one of a mere 163 examples produced. It was treated to a complete restoration, with stunning results. The Monarch was completely stripped, disassembled, and refinished in the handsome two-tone Verona green and Colonial white colours as per the data plate. In the process, the floors were painted and the chassis was completely detailed. All chrome and stainless steel trim was removed, and replated or polished.

It is powered by the “Y-block” 312 cubic inch V8 engine and has a Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission combination. The engine bay features many correct decals and tags, providing a period correct look. The beautiful and spacious interior is equally impressive, finished in a beautiful two-tone green treatment. The steering wheel, dashboard, and instrument panel are in perfect condition, and the gauges appear to be crisp and clean.

Options include power steering, power brakes, windshield washers, spotlights, driving lights, Town & Country radio, clock, heater, and power convertible top. The graceful exterior is topped with fender skirts and continental kit. This 1956 Monarch convertible combines the best in 1950s styling, power and rarity, and will make a great investment.
